Joy
"I just want Riley to be happy."
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPORTANCE OF BODY LANGUAGE
Age: 21
Face Claim: Samantha Munro
Occupation: Student at New York University; currently finishing her undergraduate studies in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies. Plans on applying to NYU's Counseling and Guidance: School and Bilingual School Counseling, Pre-K-12 as soon as she graduates (i.e., fall of 2016).
BUT ON THE WHOLE I'VE BEEN A SAINT
Personality:
Not even the pulse of a sanguine heart and a brimming grin can mask the flaws that Joy carries. For all intents and purposes, her intentions come from a sincere place, execution, however remains a shortcoming for her. If something goes awry or irritates her, she isn't one to hide her frustration – conveying her emotions with snide actions and commentary.
Still, even the obdurate and proud are in need of reality check every so often. Joy is no stranger to humility and is quick to accept the responsibilities of her manners when necessary. Maturity is a checkpoint in the journey of self-improvement, and the girl is committed to her mission; for the sake of improving the troubled world around her.
Place of Residence: Greenwich Village (Alumni Hall)
IT WON'T COST MUCH
Friends: Bing Bong, Riley Anderson
Enemies: Jangles the Clown
Family: Sadness, Fear, Disgust, Anger (younger siblings)
Gang, Group or Organization: Joy is a prolific participant in campus clubs and activities. Some of the clubs she has invested time into include (and are not limited to) Feminists of Silver, Knock Knock Give a Sock, and the Student Collective for Social Work.
YA POOR UNFORTUNATE SOUL

The day had passed through her consciousness in a prolonged, vapid manner. The sun, her soulmate could not break her from her trance. Neither could the songs of her peers – the chipper bluebird could pull her from the purgatory that encompassed her mind.
The cacophony of pigeon's wings and raspy curses had been muted to a faint mumbles, insignificant as nimble feet took heavy steps against the pavement. She sighed. This thesis, the one that she had proposed to be her magnum opus, would never be completed.
Ah, how she tried. She had worked with several children in order to concoct the perfect proposal. All of them brilliant spirits in their own unique respect. A couple of fireflies in a jar, her professor mused, to which Joy chortled in agreement with the statement. Indeed, she loved each child she worked with as if they were her own sibling. Or so she believed.
Riley had stepped into her life as quickly as she left it. She was a fascinating youth, overflowing with potential. Joy noticed this immediately. She had a passion for hockey and fine pizza, details that would never leave the older girl's memory. Over the course of the preceding months Joy had found herself growing closer to the girl, her own spunky countenance chipping away at the somber shell that shielded Riley from the energy of the external world. It was only a matter of weeks before Joy found herself visiting the indoor hockey rinks, her voice piping and roaring through the anarchic crowd to cheer her girl on.
Her mind cringed at the memory, the day when she failed Riley. The sky was brimmed with sunlight as the birds sang their songs – she should have foresaw the consequences, in all truth. Riley's mental health had taken a turn for the worse, and Joy had been too immature to realize the consequence of her actions. Perhaps she still was. Fear and remorse were nestled in the chambers of mind, leaping around the situation with her usual spring and grin before changing the subject.
A delightful laugh had pierced her ears, its childish endearment familiar to the senses. She gazed upwards, her eyes immediately locking on the silver blades that reverberated with the sun.
"Wait!" She found herself crying, emotion triumphing over pragmatic logic yet again as nimble feet skipped over to the girl, eyes averted for a moment before finding the courage to speak. "Um, hey there," she placed a hand over her arm, sighing. "Do you mind...do you have a moment to, I don't know, talk?"
